Three generations of the Garrett family, Gary and Sheri along with son Chris and grandson, Austin work together at Log Cabin Organics, a small 3 acre farm in the Catawba Valley.

The main crop, day neutral ever-bearing organic and GMO free Albion Strawberries produce consistently throughout the production season.  Albion has shown resistance to Verticulium wilt and Phytophthora crown rot.  The fruit has outstanding flavor and attractive internal and external fruit color.

Our environmentally conscience farm utilizes recycled materials, rain water and the latest in technological advanced growing systems by growing them vertically in the air.  In one plant space we can grow up to 100 plants growing out the sides of pipes using the system of organic bioponics.  Water usage is reduced by 80% using this method and it also reduces plant growing area needed.  Other organic fruits and vegetables are being grown using organic teas and traditional organic farming practices.

Currently under construction is our “earth-sheltered” Greenhouse made out of local recycled materials and using thermal mass for proper temperature control for organic heirloom fruits and vegetable and also creating less environmental footprint.

We are currently in the process of starting Hydroponic Strawberries and 7-variety Lettuce all to be grown using organic methods and biological pest control measures.
